Focus Forward

FOCUS FORWARD @ VCP:

Every year since 2019, the Vermont Center for Photography has collaborated with Turning Point of Windham County to offer Focus Forward, an 8-week class in introductory digital photography for people in recovery.

Focus Forward is open to a maximum of 5 participants per class. The program is offered entirely free of charge, and no experience is necessary for the participants. Each student will have their own Nikon DSLR to use during the 8 weeks. Instruction will cover the basics of using a camera, what goes into making a meaningful picture, and learning to edit images in Adobe software. At the end of each session, an exhibit of select images from each student will be on display at VCP, with a reception open to friends, family, and the public.

All who successfully finish the 8-week Focus Forward program will receive a complimentary membership to VCP. Pre-Registration and a commitment to all 8 weeks of classes are required.

Instructor
The class is led by artist and educator Michael Zuhorski, who currently teaches photography at the Putney School and maintains a studio space in Brattleboro.

VCP hopes that by learning the craft of photography, Focus Forward participants will find a new means of creative expression and a powerful new tool in their recovery process.
