Description
The workshop will begin with a discussion on how to process and print photographs in anticipation of hand coloring them. Students will be introduced to the instructor’s approach to tinting prints using Prismacolor colored pencils. We’ll work with 5×7 prints for experiments and drafts. Students can expect to go home with one or two finished prints on 8×10 paper.
Materials needed:
A set of Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. These are widely available from art supply houses.
A set of 24 pencils is adequate. Please note one must use these exact pencils. Other types of colored pencils are not likely to work.
Students should email three black and white photographs (jpegs) to be printed by the instructor in advance of the workshop. (Three copies of each photograph on 5×7 inch paper for drafts/experiments and one copy on 8×10 inch paper for a final version will be provided)
Participants: limited to 6
Experience necessary: none
If students need help with converting photographs to black and white the instructor will be available via email prior to the workshop to assist.
Materials fee:
$15.00 – This includes inkjet prints of three photographs on watercolor paper as described above and materials for blending pigments. Student’s will take home a small (2 oz) bottle of blending solution.
