Artist Statement

Born and raised in Baltimore, MD until the age of 16. My mother and my sister moved to Southern, VT in search of a new start. Thanks to my Mom’s brother who had lived in Vermont most of his life, provided our small family a bridge to something that changed everything we ever knew before then. Finishing High school at BUHS in 2007, the prospect of going to play football in college did not call to me. What I can clearly say now, that was my intuition and my ancestors guiding me to something else.

I spent years after high school finding myself, through trial and many errors. I can say I felt a huge shift in my life happen around 2011 – 12, in the form of a spiritual awakening so to speak. I have always had these connections since very young, and at this point in my life something drastically changed. Meditation became an anchor for me, nature and the beauty of this land here in Southern,VT was the place I could find my own voice through life’s challenges. I am grateful to have taken the time I needed to grow myself from within. To have purpose and to be intentional is two principals I have always seen show up for me throughout my life. If my heart and soul isn’t in it, I can’t do it. Purpose has to be at the root of everything I do.

The tool of a camera showed up for me on September 18th, 2024, it wasn’t long after that I realized the significance of what was actually happening. This date is my mother & Grandmothers birthday. Months after really connecting with the medium of photography, I shared with my mother how it’s really been impacting me in a powerful way. She shared something with me that she had never before, that my grandmother, her mother was also a Film photographer. This new information at this point in my life blew me away. It was as if I had finally found my purpose, and that story about my grandmother was my confirmation.

When you look at my work, you are witnessing my willingness to connect deeply with my intuition. The unspoken and often unseen stories that we are all connected to in some way shape or form, rests in the photos I make. It may not physically be our story, but there will always be something we can feel or even wonder. When you take the time to really see my work, you get to better understand my  “Why” – to tell the stories  that may have been forgotten. Helping us remember who we are, as surely my work provides a mirror for one to consider things that may have been overlooked or again, forgotten.  When we remember who we are, we can change anything within us or around us.

“This is how I will impact the world and the generation that I’m apart of”
