Opening Reception this Friday!
We hope that you will join us this Friday evening (September 5th) from 5:30 to 8:30pm as we celebrate our latest exhibition – featuring two very talented local photographers Dave Usher and John Kudukey who both use traditional large format black & white processes to create a collection of images which reflect a view of the natural world. Although the theme of landscapes may be the same, each photographer brings his own view and approach.
The reception is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
For nearly thirty-five years, John Kudukey has created black and white photographs with a 4×5 view camera. John’s formal training in photography began at the University of Massachusetts. He has since spent time with several professional photographers including Jock Sturges, John Sexton, Mark Citret, and the late Fred Picker. John frequently conducts workshops for the Vermont Center for Photography where he also serves on the Board of Directors. John lives and works in western Massachusetts.
Dave Usher – Brattleboro, VT
Dave Usher is a former Army photographer and supervisory photographer for the Department of Interior. He taught photography for twenty years with his good friend Fred Picker at Zone VI Workshop. His works are held in collections world-wide, and have appeared in most major national publications including National Geographic, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and The New York Times. Dave printed the glass plates of William Henry Jackson for the Smithsonian and for the show: “William Henry Jackson: The Survey Years“. Most recently Dave has completed a grant to photograph Craters of the Moon National Monument.
