Explore the possibilities of plant-based photography in this 6-week online course. From anthotypes and chlorophyll printing to lumen processes and DIY developers, this class offers an accessible introduction to sustainable, experimental image-making.

Participants will learn a range of techniques using organic materials, while developing their own projects outside of class with ongoing support. A materials list will be provided at least two weeks in advance.

About the Instructor

Brittonie Fletcher, MFA, is a British-American artist, educator, and curator whose work has been exhibited internationally and published by Focal Press/Routledge and Random House, as well as in numerous online and print publications. Her work is held in major collections, including the Preus Museum (Norwegian National Museum of Photography) and the National Library of Scotland. She has also contributed to several volumes in the Alternative Process series edited by Christian Z. Anderson, including Salted Paper PrintingCyanotype Toning, and Vandyke, Argyrotype, and Kallitype.

Fletcher has held teaching roles at the Royal College of Art in London and served as a program creator for alternative processes and tutor at Stills Centre for Photography in Edinburgh. She currently teaches at the Penumbra Foundation in New York and at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island, and leads workshops internationally. This marks her third course at the Vermont Center for Photography, and she is delighted to return this summer.
